International Rugby League is just around with the corner, with Shaun Wane having recently announced his 31-player performance squad for the England v Samoa two-game Test series next month.

With the Betfred Super League season drawing to the business end, here's a look at how some of the England players performed over the weekend...

Liam Marshall, Jake Wardle and Junior Nsemba helped guide Wigan Warriors to a crucial home win against Hull KR in Round 25 of Super League - in an intense race for the League Leaders’ Shield.

Wardle provided a pivotal assist for Marshall’s match-winning try, while young Nsemba, who has been named in the England squad for the very first time, produced a perfect performance with one try, 136 metres and 25 tackles made.

Marshall, who could earn his first England cap this autumn, came up with a brilliant brace in less than ten minutes, which would ultimately seal a spectacular 24-20 win for the Warriors. He also sits comfortably at the top of the Super League try scoring charts with 24 tries – seven ahead of those in second and third place.

On the opposite side, Mikey Lewis impressed despite the loss, producing plenty more of his trademark magic - which England fans will be excited to see in the upcoming months!

England captain, George Williams, then ran the show for Warrington Wolves when they faced St Helens. He will be hoping to also run the show in this year's Test series.

Matty Ashton came up with a sensational score for his side; again highlighting his super speed and ability. Will we see an acrobatic and agile Ashton in action against Samoa next month?

Meanwhile, Wolves veteran Ben Currie made the second highest number of tackles for his side – England fans are used to Currie being a workhorse when it really matters!

Likewise, Robbie Mulhern of Leigh Leopards emerged as his side’s top tackler, and Leeds Rhinos' Harry Newman contributed a terrific try in his side's biggest win of the season.
